Planning notes for Italy
August is the national holiday month — many businesses close around Ferragosto on 15 August, and coastal prices peak. Trains are the sensible way to move between event cities: Frecciarossa fares are cheapest booked two to three months ahead, and regional trains require validating the ticket before boarding.

Standing in the piazza is free but you are locked in for hours with no shade or exit. Balcony seats are sold privately by the building owners and should be arranged months ahead.
Attending events is fine on almost any status, but paid work at one — including stewarding, bar shifts or paid performance — is not always permitted on a visitor or study permit. If an event is also a work opportunity, confirm your right-to-work conditions first.
